Summer 2014 Jewelry Trends

Every summer is different, with exciting new ideas rising to the surface.  After all, it's time for summer fun!  As the clothing gets smaller in the Arizona heat, jewelry becomes more important in making a look special!  So, what's been rising to the surface this summer?

1. Gunmetal: The metallic richness that is gunmetal adds a sophistication to summer jewelry.  Plus, you never have to worry about cleaning it! (Pictured: a gunmetal chain and black pearl necklace from www.imtheitgirl.com)

2. Loomed bracelets: Oh Chan Luu, what have you done to us?!  The classic loomed bracelet has been brought completely up to date with rich designs and sleek leather ends.  Plus, this look is great paired with wrap bracelets.  (Pictured: a Chan Luu loomed bracelet.)

3. Pearls: Pearls are anything but traditional this season.  Huge individual pearls or giant groupings, mixed colors or set into sleek geometric settings -- these are not your grandmother's pearls!  (Pictured: Bead World's Cascade Necklace in Neutral)

4. Primary and bright colors: Neon and day glow have given way to primary colors and other normal brights.  Sometimes these colors are natural (like malachite and red coral) and other times they are Swarovski crystal or glass.  Either way, get those crayons out!  (Pictured: www.prettipinkboutique.wordpress.com shows bright colored layered necklaces in five fun styles.)

5. Stars: From a sweet little star stud earring or a single star on a ring to an explosion of stars around your neck, star jewelry is a thing this year.  (Pictured: a Dries VanNoten necklace from the spring runway.)
