Instructions:
·
To make this jewelry kit, cut
your leather strap to the desired length: 14 inches for a 6 ½ inch
bracelet. 15 inches for a 7 inch
bracelet, 16 inches for a 7 ½ inch bracelet, 17 inches for an 8 inch
bracelet.
·
Use
your pen to make a mark ¼ inch from one end of your leather.
·
Then
use your pen to make a mark 1 ½ inches from one end of your leather.
·
Using the second smallest punch size, punch a
hole at each mark.
·
Wrap the punched end of the leather through the
closed end of the Z hook.
·
Lay the stem part of the rivet on the bench
block. Place the leather, “wrong” side
up, over the rivet part. The stem should
poke through the first hole.
·
Fold the leather over, until the rivet stem
also pokes through the second hole.
·
Find the mushroom shape rivet cap. Place it over the stem and press down firmly.
·
Place the curved end of the rivet setter over
the rivet and tap several times lightly with your hammer.
·
The rivet holds the leather closed, attaching
it permanently to the Z hook.
·
Repeat
steps 1 and 2 on the other end of your leather strap. Find the part of the rivet that has a stem
and a flat bottom and place it on the bench block. Place the leather, “wrong” side up, over the
stem part. The stem should poke through
the first hole.
·
Fold the leather over, until the rivet stem
also pokes through the second hole.
·
Find the mushroom shape rivet cap. Place it over the stem and press down firmly.
·
Place the curved end of the rivet setter over
the rivet and tap several times lightly with your hammer.
·
The rivet holds the leather closed, creating
a loop for the open end of the Z hook.
·
If
you like, you can add decorative rivets along the length of the leather or
attach flat back Swarovski crystals with GS Hypo glue (red). The finished bracelet is shown below.
