Finishing a Leather Bracelet with Crimp Ends
Leather jewelry is SUCH a hot trend right now. Thick leather, however, can pose a bit of a challenge -- you can't really knot it, so how do you add a clasp? Crimp ends solve everything!
You will need:
Approximately 8 inches of 3mm leather
1 pair of 3.1 mm crimp ends
1 trigger clasp
5 beads with a 4mm hole (TierraCast beads are shown)
GS Hypo Cement (red)
Insert one end of the leather all the way into one crimp end.
Using needle nose pliers, firmly crimp center bar (and ONLY the center bar) of the crimp end flat. Make sure you are crimping parallel to the loop.
Add all five floater beads.
Check fit, and cut leather as needed. Insert leather into second crimp end and crimp shut. Add GS Hypo glue into each crimp end for extra security.
Add a trigger clasp with the jump ring.
The finished bracelet looks like this. For a necklace, just use longer leather.
Happy beading!
