Bead Challenge Winners for November 2012

It's been another amazing Bead Challenge at Bead World!  You just would not believe the quality of the entries this time around.  Our community is overflowing with talent!  We know how much you guys love to see inspiring design, so I wanted to share some entries with you, as well as give you some more detailed images from our winner!

The WINNER: (drum roll, please....)
Yolanda Nussdorfer!

The complete piece, in all it's glory -- note the use of tubular mesh, the steampunk elements and structural asymmetry.

A detail picture of some of the Swarovski crystal dangles.

Yolanda created a gorgeous patina on the gear elements, handmade the copper clasp and included lots of free form wire wrapped elements.

a shot of the piece being worn -- fabulous!

Honorable Mention:

DeLynn Hendrickson
"Autumn Flower"

This pendant is just gorgeous.  I've had the good fortune to see it in person, and it's impeccably made.  The overwrapping showcases the crystals and gemstones in a really lovely way.  Pay special attention to the color shift around the ring.  Excellent!

Staff Only Winner:
Lori Barker

One of the really fun things about the staff category is getting to see all of the brilliant aspects of jewelry in which our staffers excel.  This fun use of crochet with beading and wire wrapping secured the win for Lori this time!

Inspiration Piece:
Jennifer Eng

Jennifer is in management with Bead World, along with Robynne and myself.  We have excluded ourselves from the competition, mostly because we are usually the judges!  But I thought you guys really needed to see Jen's Bead Challenge project.  It rocks!  She built the paisley form with wire, then filled it with internal wire wrapping of all sorts of beads.  The chain is hand wrapped to coordinate.  She even made the hook and eye clasp, using techniques we teach in our Intermediate Wire Working class!  It's an inspiration piece for anyone who is looking to expand their wire working skills.  Great work, Jen!

Our next Bead Challenge kits will be released in January.  Until then, happy beading!
