Simple Snowflake Ornament
There are few things as heart warming as a Christmas tree piled high with handmade ornaments. Those special treasures made by our family and friends over the years are like time capsules -- we remember the people who put their heart into creating gifts to brighten out holiday. They become family heirlooms and priceless treasures. Here is a long-time favorite ornament pattern of the Bead World family, simple enough for children and beautiful enough for the finest tree. Enjoy!
Required Materials:
4.5 inch pre-soldered snowflake ornament wire form
Size 6 seed beads (54) color pictured: crystal silver lined
8mm round Czech glass firepolish beads (6) color pictured: emerald
6mm round Czech glass fire polish beads (12) color pictured: emerald
4mm round Czech glass fire polish beads (6) color pictured: emerald
Rubber earring backs (5)
Super glue
Round nose pliers
Memory wire cutters
Start with a pre-soldered snowflake ornament wire form.
Add beads to one arm of the ornament form in the following order: two seed beads, 6mm bead, three seed beads, 8mm bead, two seed beads, 6mm bead, two seed beads, 4mm bead.
Add one rubber earing back to secure the beads.
Continue around the ornament, adding beads and securing with earring backs. Finish the last section of the snowflake, but do not secure with an earring back.
Using your round nose pliers, grip the unsecured branch of your snowflake. Squeeze very hard and rotate the tool, forming a loop. The snowflake form is very hard, so don't be surprised if you have to push very hard to form the loop. This loop is to attach ribbon or a decorative hook.
Use memory wires to cut off any extra wire. Don't use your regular wire cutters -- the hard wire will damage the blades!
Add a drop of super glue to each rubber earring back for extra security. Let the glue dry thoroughly, and then enjoy your beautiful snowflake ornament!
