Bead Challenge Staff Winners!

We've had so much fun with our first ever Bead Challenge at Bead World!  We're announcing the winner and runner up in the September e-magazine -- Congratulations!  Of course, the staff members wanted to play as well, so we did a staff competition too!  Here is the staff winner, plus some great ideas from the other staffers that entered!

Congratulations to our Grand Prize Staff Winner, Midori Isosaki!  She used a wonderful over-wrapping technique to bead the charm holder, as well as using it to support a beaded dangle.  The necklace itself is made of a combination of mixed-media kumihimo, crimp ends and wire wrapping.  In addition to being a beautiful pieces, the judges joked that it could be called "How to Use the Most Bead World Classes in One Necklace"!

A big congrats also goes out to our Honorable Mention, Lori Barker!  Her piece stands out due to sheer gorgeousness!  A combination of rectangular kumihimo, chain maille and wire wrap, Lori's necklace is balanced and beautiful. Great work!

Of course, we're not going to stop there!  Here's some more eye candy to inspire you!

Jennifer Eng made a wonderful long necklace, using the included jump rings to create captures and wire wrapped elements throughout the piece.  Notice the combination of charm holder, jump rings and apatite to create the flower link!

And I (Lezli Goodwin) used the charm holder as a decorative multi-strand connector!  Check out the inclusion of this season's hottest shape, the quatrefoil, used as links.

We hope you will join us for our next Bead Challenge.  Kits will be on sale in all Bead World stores on August 31, and the deadline for submitting entry photos will be October 20, 2012.  Send your .jpegs to ldkgoodwin@aol.com  And remember to be careful about your photos!  Sometimes the quality of your photo is the difference between winning or not!  (Make sure they are in focus, framed nicely and big enough to see details.)
